The ionizing photon production efficiency of bright <i>z</i> ∼ 2 − 5 galaxies

چکیده

We investigate the production efficiency of ionizing photons ($\xi_{ion}^*$) 1174 galaxies with secure redshift at z=2-5 from VANDELS survey to determine relation between emission and physical properties bright massive sources. constrain $\xi_{ion}^*$ galaxy parameters by means spectro-photometric fits performed BEAGLE code. The analysis exploits multi-band photometry in fields, measurement UV rest-frame lines (CIII]$\lambda 1909$, HeII$\lambda 1640$, OIII]$\lambda 1666$) deep VIMOS spectra. find no clear evolution within probed range. slightly increases fainter $M_{UV}$, bluer slopes, but these trends are less evident when restricting a complete subsample log(M$_{star}$/M$_{\odot}$)$>$9.5. significant trend increasing EW(Ly$\alpha$), an average log($\xi_{ion}^*$/Hz erg$^{-1}$)$>$25 EW$>$50\AA, higher for high-EW CIII]$\lambda 1909$ 1666$ emitters. most correlations found respect stellar mass, specific star-formation rate (sSFR) SFR surface density ($\Sigma_{SFR}$). sSFR shows monotonic increase erg$^{-1}$) $\sim$24.5 log(sSFR)$\sim$-9.5$yr^{-1}$ $\sim$25.5 log(sSFR)$\sim$-7.5$yr^{-1}$, low scatter little dependence on mass. objects above main-sequence consistently have higher-than-average $\xi_{ion}^*$. A $\Sigma_{SFR}$ is also found, $\Sigma_{SFR}>$10 M$_{\odot}/yr/kpc^2$.(Abridged)

assessment of the efficiency of s.p.g.c refineries using network dea

data envelopment analysis (dea) is a powerful tool for measuring relative efficiency of organizational units referred to as decision making units (dmus). in most cases dmus have network structures with internal linking activities. traditional dea models, however, consider dmus as black boxes with no regard to their linking activities and therefore do not provide decision makers with the reasons...

Ionizing Photon Escape Fractions from High Redshift Dwarf Galaxies

It has been argued that low-luminosity dwarf galaxies are the dominant source of ionizing radiation during cosmological reionization. The fraction of ionizing radiation that escapes into the intergalactic medium from dwarf galaxies with masses less than ∼10 solar masses plays a critical role during this epoch. Using an extensive suite of very high resolution (0.1 pc), adaptive mesh refinement, ...

The BeppoSAX view of bright Compton-thin Seyfert 2 galaxies

We present the analysis of 31 observations (17 of which are published here for the first time) of 20 bright Compton thin Seyfert 2s, in the 0.1-200 keV band, performed with the BeppoSAX satellite. The sample consists of all Seyfert 2s in the BeppoSAX public archive, with a 2-10 keV flux higher than 5×10−12 erg cm−2s−1. The good statistics available and the broad energy band permit a detailed st...

Photon and Metal Production in Starburst Galaxies

Starburst galaxies are significant contributors to the production of light and matter in the local universe. I review the results of recent surveys of starburst galaxies from the radio to X-rays for a panchromatic picture of a “typical” local starburst. The two prototypical examples NGC 7714 and M 82 are discussed in some detail. The overall galaxy properties are tightly related to those of the...

‏‎the hypothesis is that recent and frequent exposure to lexical items leads to a more fluent production of speech in terms of rate of speech. to test the hypothesis,a one-way anova experimental design was carried out. 24 sednior students of efl participated in a one-way interview test. data analyses revealed that those who were exposed frequently to the lexical items over a week prior to inter...
